Freedom Together Coalition
Who We Are
The Freedom Together Coalition is the public-facing coalition arm of Freedom of Faith Food Bank: a movement for collective liberation rooted in self-determination, Black resilience, and civic transformation. We unite nonprofits, churches, activists, and youth to rebuild what our communities need, together. Co-founded by Michael and Kyara Ofuani, the Coalition carries the food bank’s mission beyond the pantry into advocacy, health, and civic life.
Town Halls & Advocacy
Our community town halls on food and housing justice bring residents, faith leaders, and partners like the Houston Area Urban League, the NAACP, and The Ensemble Theatre into one room to name problems and build solutions together.
The Freedom Pace Project
Coming soon: a community running and walking initiative anchored in Sunnyside that pairs health with know-your-rights education for young adults from Houston’s Nigerian, Ghanaian, Ethiopian, and Kenyan communities. Participants train as Freedom Pace Ambassadors and graduate into leadership roles within the Coalition.
